PintPoint — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information the PintPoint mobile application ("PintPoint", "the app", "we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account and using the app, you agree to this policy.

PintPoint is intended for adults of legal drinking age in their country of residence (18+ in most regions). It is not directed at children.

Who is responsible

The data controller for PintPoint is:

[Nico Kroiss e.U.] [Holzshäuseln 6] Contact: [Team@pintpoint.app]

What data we collect

Account information. When you sign up we collect your email address and a password (the password is handled and stored securely by our authentication provider; we never see it in plain text). You also provide a display name, your country, a preferred display currency, and optionally a favourite beer.

Beer logs. When you log a beer, we store the brand, price, currency, serving size, bar/venue name, city, country, an optional star rating, and the date and time of the entry.

Location data (optional). If you grant location permission, the app captures the device's GPS coordinates at the moment you log a beer, and uses them to (a) place your entry on the map and (b) automatically suggest the city and country. You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings; the app still works without it, and you can type the city manually.

Achievements and referral codes. We store which in-app achievements and referral badges (e.g. "One Million Beers") you have unlocked.

Technical data. When the in-app map is displayed, your device requests map tiles from OpenStreetMap servers, which necessarily receive your device's IP address and the map area being viewed.

We do not collect contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers, and we do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.

How we use your data

We use your data to: create and manage your account; store and display your beer history and personal statistics; show prices, rankings and trends across cities; place entries on the map; award achievements; and operate, secure and improve the app.

Aggregated insights. We may produce aggregated and anonymised statistics about beer prices and consumption trends (for example, average beer price per city). These aggregates do not identify you personally and may be used for product features and, in future, shared with or sold to third parties as market insights. We do not sell data that identifies you personally.

Legal bases (EU/EEA users)

We process your data to perform our contract with you (providing the app), based on your consent (precise location), and based on our legitimate interests (securing and improving the service, producing anonymised insights). You may withdraw consent for location at any time.

Who we share data with

Service providers. We host the app's database and authentication with Supabase (our backend provider), which stores your account and beer-log data on our behalf.

Map provider. Map tiles are served by the OpenStreetMap Foundation as described above.

We may disclose data if required by law, or to protect our rights, users or the public.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your personal data for as long as your account exists. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data directly in the app under Profile → Settings → Delete account. Deletion removes your profile, your beer logs and your authentication record. Anonymised aggregates that no longer identify you may be retained.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise most of these rights directly in the app, or by contacting us at the address above. EU/EEA users also have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.

Security

We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections and access controls, to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

International transfers

Your data may be processed on servers located outside your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, by notice in the app.
